The guest houses and private retreats of Calistoga Ranch featuring architecture inspired by the campground vernacular, paired with luxurious interior designs -- have helped establish the resort as a sought-after destination in California's desirable Napa Valley. SB Architects, together with developer Criswell Radovan LLC, sought to create a strong connection with the natural surroundings, using extensive outdoor social areas and rooms designed with floor-to-ceiling windows to "erase the line between indoor and outdoor spaces." FR window coverings by Hunter Douglas including both roller shades and roman shades were specified for light control and privacy. In addition, the team used sensitive planning to preserve the existing trees and drainage patterns of the wooded canyon site. The combination of design elements and green construction earned the resort a "Best of California" award from Architectural Record.
